Time to say goodbye

Nine days was not nearly enough time with Mike and Asanuo and their boys. I truly feel Asanuo and I are soul-sisters, even though we were born on opposite sides of the globe.

All four of us have so much fun together--laughing hysterically, cracking jokes, getting into deep and soulful conversations, asking hard questions, dreaming big, and loving life.

Mike is one of the most hilarious people I know. Let's face it: no matter how flexible and nice and cheerful everyone is, a roadtrip like this one, in close quarters with four young kids, can get hairy. Being able to laugh together turned all the normal frustrations into an adventure. Mike is helpful, fun, and whip-smart. He often bursts into spontaneous song, which sends chills down everyone's spines because you know, no big deal, but he used to sing professionally with the Philadelphia Singers. Asanuo makes everything look easy, whether it's whipping up a gourmet meal, moving around the world, speaking five or six languages, drawing and sewing, or toting two kids--one a very active one-year-old--around Scotland. She is real, vivacious, and funny, and even when things are hard she's always ready to laugh. They are great parents who love their children and want the best for them.

We love and admire you, dear friends. Until next time!
