For the first Mountain Goats trail run of the summer, Owen had his usual running partner, Mommy. But Jack got an extra special pacer--Aunt Candie--the star runner of the Bayles family!

race
Yesterday the boys took part in another 2-mile Mountain Goats trail run. There were about 130 kids running!
Jack shot out of the gate and ran so hard he probably pulled a muscle in his leg. That's him in the front, wearing red, in this video. Today he woke up aching and I let him stay home for half the day to take another Epsom salt bath and relax.
Cue the Chariots of Fire music.
Owen preferred to take his time, admiring the view and chatting it up with his running partner, Mommy.
Finish Line!!
Go, boys!

you've got to keep moving
Today I went back to Zumba for the first time since the car accident. This class is just as amazing as I remember. The teacher is awesome, and the room is packed with people from all walks of life. It's one of the most diverse spots in Denver. LOVE that. From the very heavy gray-haired lady in front of me rocking it out, to the African-American bombshell with the huge smile on her face, the cute blond pregnant woman, and the teacher's Latina wife working some serious merengue in the front row, everyone was having so much fun!
The lady I always stand next to was there again today. We got to talking and her name is Doris. She's a former teacher, aged 67 (she looks like she's in her 50s), beautiful, African American, about to head off to Spain on a Rick Steves tour, and really into fitness. She told me, "The thing is, when you're getting older, you have to keep moving. It's all about moving." Apparently everyone in her family has died young but she's determined to beat the odds by keeping as healthy and active as she can.
WOW! Talk about inspiring.

barre3
I recently discovered an online workout program that I love. It's called Barre3. Right now there is a free 15-day trial for the online subscription. You get unlimited access to over 100+ videos. I really like the blend of barre work, pilates and yoga. They also have brick-and-mortar locations but they're more expensive.
It's a great workout and I especially love the founder Sadie. She's positive, motivating, and smart, and I like how she focuses on overall wellness, not to mention getting the best workout in the shortest amount of time! I'm going to commit to doing these more regularly. I love that I can squeeze in a great 10-30-45- or 60-minute workout from home, anytime--especially since I'm starting to do more sitting at a desk these days!
Click on the Dr. Oz video to try a sample workout and get the coupon code (DOCTOROZ). Check it out!
