Here it is, the famous Loch Ness. It's the second-deepest lake in Scotland, but of course that's not why you know it, right? The only monster we saw was on the bric-a-brac in the castle gift shop.
Urquhart Castle on Loch Ness was probably a Pictish fort in the late 500s, later a major stronghold from the 1200s-1600s. It was deliberately blown up in 1692.

Fancy a picnic beside Loch Ness? In a ruined castle, no less?





The kids were fascinated by these baby chicks. They loved watching the mama bird fly in to feed them.
