Um, hello, gorgeous. This is the view from the "backyard" of our little rental cottage on Loch Alsh, just around the peninsula from Eilean Donan castle.

View from the back porch. While planning our trip, we scoured the internet for almost a full day before we found this cute but simple rural cottage, called Ceol Na Ron. Everything else was booked. Welcome to high season in the UK. The location was right and the pictures looked fine, so we (rather nervously) booked it. It was so much better than advertised. They barely mentioned that it was ON a lake. Maybe lakefront property is so commonplace in Scotland that they don't consider it a selling point?

The boys loved watching this boat go up and down with the tides.
