A very happy Katie.
After lunch everyone headed off to Point Lobos (just next door) to hike, but Katie and I were in the mood to draw, wander, talk, and drink tea. So that's just what we did.

People kept seeing whales, but I always missed them. Our last morning, during meditation, I opened my eyes to look out at the water. And guess what I saw? Two big gray shapes spraying plumes of water. Whales! I was so very happy.

Um. This retreat looks absolutely magical! So sweet that you got to go with Katie! I'd say turning 40 is TOTALLY worth this splurge!!
