Inverness

Check out this wild man! One of the big blessings of our trip was getting in touch with Daniel's Scottish relatives, his cousin Sandra and her husband David. They live in Inverness with their three children, and when I emailed them to get some itinerary advice, they spent an hour on FaceTime with us, walking us over a Highlands map and even offering to have us stay in their home. They were in Canada (at the cottage!), so we missed them, but it was so wonderful to get all that insider advice and have a lovely home to relax in for a few days.

All the kids (except Salvador, of course) jumped on this thing for HOURS. And I do mean hours.

Watch out for Daddy!

Meanwhile, Asanuo whipped up an apple pie from scratch. Back in Kohima, she has her own in-house patisserie. She caters European menus for a fancy local hotel. We're talking orders for 400 individual tiramisu or decadent layer cakes with elaborate piping or from-scratch croissants. She also teaches cooking and baking classes in her kitchen, à la Julia Child. This woman is a master in the kitchen! Some day we want to take classes and cook up a storm together in France.
