We made it! And it felt like a minor miracle. We left Mike and Asanuo's flat in Edinburgh around 6:30am and, after two flights, a bad delay in Newark, and a 3-hour car ride from the Raleigh airport, we finally pulled up to the rental house in Emerald Isle around 10pm--which felt like 3am to us. On our flights, I was doing my best to stop coughing by wrapping my mouth in my scarf. A grayed-haired gentleman across the aisle rummaged around in his pockets and pulled out a Ricola cough drop. He probably just wanted to shut me up but it was one of those moments when the "kindness of strangers" means the world. As soon as I saw my mom in the Raleigh airport, I started crying with relief.

Happy Birthday, Daddy! The annual crab feast on the deck.

It's crazy because I don't even remember being out here with these goofballs. The majority of the time I was in bed.

Beautiful Katie! Such a sweet nurse.

We love EI!
