On the way to Moab

Sometimes we get in the mood to get out of dodge and Utah calls our name like a siren. My friend Celeste is a girl after my own heart. I mentioned we might go to Moab for the weekend and even with her husband out of town, she packed up and was ready to roll in record time, two boys and a dog in tow. We left Friday late afternoon and stopped for the night in Colorado National Monument. It's a great stopping point, about 4 hours out, and beautiful in its own right.

Breakfast time! Why does everything taste better when you're camping?

That tiny road under us is the road up to the campground. It's always a bit unnerving to see it in the morning, when you drove up under cover of darkness. It's a lot more steep than it looks!

Celeste's first glimpse of the red cliffs as we drove the back way around Arches National Park toward Moab. She was literally weeping for joy in her minivan seeing it for the first time. Little did she realize we weren't even to the "real" rocks yet.

Almost there!
