Well, we're officially initiated to life in the West. Wednesday and Thursday we had two days of tornado warnings. Hail blasted everything, thunder cracked so close to the house I jumped, sirens were blaring in my hood. Daniel texted me so I went online, where the National Weather Service (and then my phone) told me to "take shelter immediately." I hung out in the basement for a while, trying to decide if I should go pick up the kids on time despite the warnings. Meanwhile, at the hospital, Daniel had to hang out in the stairwell for a while.
from The Denver Post. This is the University of Colorado Anschutz campus, where Daniel works a few days a week.
Both days when I arrived to pick up the kids, they were in the hallway lying on the floor with their arms wrapped around their heads.
Friends from Kansas or Nebraska seemed unfazed but it was on the weird size for a Maryland girl like me! I think about 8 tornadoes touched down in the Denver area, but thank goodness there wasn't any major damage.
