Magical. Relaxing. Beautiful. Fun.
That was our long Thanksgiving weekend in Crested Butte.
We got there in the afternoon on Thanksgiving Day. I put this FANTASTIC Italian-style turkey breast stuffed with chestnuts, pancetta, prunes, pork, and herbs (wow, it was incredible) into the oven, whipped up the mashed potatoes and green beans, added the cranberry sauce and pies I'd made at home, and dinner was served.
OK, new secret weapon when it comes to the family classic, pecan pie: Lyle's golden syrup in place of corn syrup. Insane!

After that yummy breakfast, it was off for a snow hike!
Love those rosy cheeks!
Sledding was a huge hit this year. The boys were outside almost all day on Friday and Saturday. This is the first time Daniel and I were able to sit inside reading and knitting while they went sledding right outside the cabin.
It's time! Finally, they're old enough for this classic. I have such wonderful memories of my Dad reading this series to us as kids. He kept tearing up at various scenes and we were always a little bemused. Suffice it to say, I am now in the parent seat and of course now I'm the one getting emotional. Owen was a little nervous about the White Witch, but Jack stayed up late secretly reading one night. (Remind you of anyone?)

The cabins are just outside of Crested Butte. On Saturday, we decided to head to town for lattes and hot chocolate at our favorite coffee shop. This is the view on the way into town.

Starry, starry night. What a magical place!
