YAY! Two of our younger chickens started laying a couple weeks ago (2 months earlier than our Americanas did!) So now we're up to 4 eggs/day :) Can't wait to start blessing people by giving them away - or making a little $ by selling them... How much should we sell a dozen for?
I don't know! Here pasture-raised eggs sell in local stores/farmer's market for $5-7 a dozen. We can't tell which ones are laying--we suspect Julep, our Rhode Island Red, but today I found two eggs so I think another one has started. The problem is they keep laying in the dust bath corner of their run rather than the nice cozy nesting boxes. Ideas for how to get them to lay in the right place? our painted rocks don't seem to be working so I might buy some more realistic-looking ones. Help!
