Owen's last day of school

Each year, the kindergarten studies a theme all year long. Owen's class studied the Pioneers and First Americans. They read The Little House on the Prairie and The Birchbark House. Among other cool projects, they churned butter, made 19th-century toys, sewed moccasins, and studied plains animals. For his final poster project, Owen presented his written report about a plains animal (American Bison), a map of the Oregon and Santa Fe Trails, drawings contrasting the clothing of a pioneer girl (Laura) and an Ojibwa girl (Omakayas), a Venn diagram of the two novels, and a lifecycle of the Ojibwa seasonal camps.

Of course we are so proud of him!

Here they are having their Bottle Ceremony, a closing ritual that got the parents teary.

It's been a wonderful year for Owen and we're so grateful for his amazing teachers and sweet friends.

It's also our last year at Montview! What a nurturing place it's been for our family. We're closing a chapter on a very special season of the boys' lives with gratitude and hope for the future.
